Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Turning tool -T20207-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor
Removing
Observe safety precautions → Chapter.
Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
–  Check whether a coded radio is fitted. If this is the case consult the anti-theft coding.
–  With the ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap.
–  Fold rear seat bench forwards.

–  Unclip the tabs -arrows- of the lock clamp cover.

–  Remove the 5-pin connection terminal from the fuel pump, -1- and the supply lines -3- and return lines -2-.
  Note
To do this, press on the connection buttons for the hoses.
  WARNING
The fuel and the fuel lines may become excessively hot (burn risk).
The fuel supply system is also under pressure. Before opening the system, place a cloth over the junction and depressurise the system by gently loosening.
For all assembly work carried out on the fuel supply system, protective glasses and gloves must be worn!

–  Unscrew union nut using tool -T20207-.
–  Extract the fuel delivery unit and the join ring from the allotment in the opening of the fuel tank.
  Note
If the fuel delivery unit is to be renewed then drain the old unit before disposal.
Installing
Install in reverse order to dismantling, noting the following:
  Note
t  Take care not to bend the fuel level sender during fitting.
t  Insert seal for flange or fuel delivery unit dry into opening of fuel tank.
t  Moisten the seal using fuel only for fitting of the flange or the fuel delivery unit.
t  Ensure that fuel hose connections are tight.

t  After installing fuel delivery unit, check that the supply, return -2- and supply -2- pipes are still clipped onto fuel tank.
t  Note installation position of fuel delivery unit flange . Mark on flange must align with mark on fuel tank -arrows-.
