Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hydraulic jack -SAT 1040-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor
Removing
–  Note safety precautions before starting work → Chapter
Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
  Note
Before carrying out further work, disconnect battery earth strap. To this end, it is necessary to check whether the vehicle has a coded radio. If so, refer to the anti-theft coding.
–  With the ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap.
–  Fold rear seat bench forwards.

–  Unclip the tabs -arrows- of the lock clamp cover.

–  Extract the connector -1- from the supply unit.
–  Empty the measuring container.
–  Remove rear shaft: → Running gear, shaft, direction; Rep. gr.42.
–  Remove rear right wheel housing moulding → Bodywork - exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.66.

–  Disconnect the fuel supply -1- and return -2- tubes in the front right of the tank.
  Note
To do this, press on the connection buttons for the hoses.
–  Remove rear silencer.
–  Remove the left hand side thermal protection plate.

–  Extract the bolt from the filler neck -arrow-.
–  Support the fuel tank with the hydraulic jack -SAT 1040-.

–  Unscrew securing bolts for fuel tank -arrows-.
–  Lower fuel tank.
Installing
Install in reverse order to dismantling, noting the following:
–  Breather and fuel hoses are to be installed kink-free.
–  Ensure that fuel hose connections are tight.
–  Do not mix up the feed and return tubes (Return tube blue or with blue marking, feed tube black).
–  Clip in the fuel supply line and fuel return line on the fuel tank.
  Note
After installing fuel tank, check that the supply, return and breather lines are still clipped onto the fuel tank.
