Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Pressure gauge -VAS 6551-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051B-, see equivalent → Anchor
Test prerequisite:
l  Fuses must be OK.
l  Battery voltage at least 12 V
l  All electrical consumers, e.g. lights and rear window heating, must be switched off.

–  Remove the quick connector -A- (black or with black markings) from the fuel supply line.
–  Connect the pressure tester -VAS 6551- to the pipes -VAS 6551/1- and -VAS 6551/2- to the open ends of the fuel supply line.
–  To switch on the test and measuring instrument -VAS 6551- press the On/Off button.
–  Open shut-off taps „A“ and „B“ of pressure tester and close shut-off tap „C“.
–  Start engine and allow to idle.
–  Close the cut-off valve „B“ for maximum 15 seconds and read off the current pressure during this period on the test and measuring instrument -VAS 6551-. Specification: minimum 0.5 bar.
–  If the delivery pressure temporarily drops, renew fuel delivery unit.
If the specifications are attained:
–  Renew fuel filter, for engine running problems, to ensure the fuel filter is not blocked.
If results do not match specifications:
Altea, Altea XL
–  Remove rear seats → Bodywork, interior installation work; Rep. gr.72
León
–  Remove the rear seat → Bodywork, interior installation work; Rep. gr.72.
Continued for all vehicles
–  Release the floor covering under the seats, lift and fold backwards → Bodywork - interior fitting work; Rep. gr.70.
–  Remove cover of fuel delivery unit.
  Note
Press in safety ring to release fuel lines.

–  Remove the fuel supply unit (black or with black markings) -A- from the fuel supply unit.
–  Connect pressure tester -VAS 6551- to open ends of fuel supply pipe and fuel delivery unit using lines -VAS 6551/1- and -VAS 6551/2-.
–  To switch on the test and measuring instrument -VAS 6551- press the On/Off button.
–  Open shut-off taps „A“ and „B“ of pressure tester and close shut-off tap „C“.
–  Start engine and allow to idle.
–  Close the cut-off valve „B“ for maximum 15 seconds and read off the current pressure during this period on the test and measuring instrument -VAS 6551-. Specification: minimum 0.5 bar.
If the specifications are again not attained:
–  Check delivery rate of fuel pump → Chapter.
  Note
After completing assembly, check all quick-release fasteners are engaged correctly by pulling back on fastener.
