Supplementary fuel pumpV393: Checking pressure
Supplementary fuel pump -V393-: Checking pressure
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Pressure gauge K-Jetronic -V.A.G 1318-, see equivalent → Anchor
  Caution
Risk of irreparable damage to high-pressure pump if allowed to run dry.
If the fuel filter, the fuel line or the supplementary fuel pump -V393- have to be replaced, the fuel system must bled before starting the engine again for the first time → Chapter.
Test conditions:
l  Battery voltage at least 12.5 V
l  Fuel filter, okay.
l  Fuel tank: Minimum filling level »Reserve supply«.
l  Ignition switched off.
–  Remove engine cover panel → Chapter.
  WARNING
t  When carrying out work on the fuel system, always observe the guidelines for cleanliness and the instructions → Chapter.
t  Follow these instructions and rules for cleanliness before starting work and while working on the fuel system.
t  Wrap a clean cloth around the connection before opening the fuel system. Then eliminate the pressure by carefully separating the pipe.

–  Pull fuel supply line -arrow- off the high-pressure pump.
  A23-10321
–  Connect K-Jetronic pressure tester -V.A.G 1318- with suitable adapter -2- to fuel supply line -1-. Connect other adapter -3- from K-Jetronic pressure tester -V.A.G 1318- to open connection on high-pressure pump.
  Note
  A23-10324
The K-Jetronic pressure tester -V.A.G 1318- must be inserted as an intermediate element into the fuel supply line.
–  Connect diagnosis tester and perform the guided function „Checking electric fuel pump(s)“.
  Note
The fuel pump is now activated for 30 seconds.
–  Run fuel pumps until highest fuel pressure has built up.
l  Specification: minimum 3.5 bar
If the specification is not attained:
Check the screw connection between the pressure gauge and fuel line for leaks.
Test pressure gauge for leaks.
Check fuel lines and their connections for leaks.
Check whether fuel filter is blocked.
Check fuel delivery rate of fuel system pressurisation pump -G6- → Chapter.
  Note
Check the entire fuel system for leaks.
