Checking distribution timing > < Cylinder head

Cylinder head - Assembly overview
1 - Bolt
q   Tightening torque: 8 Nm
2 - High-pressure pump
q   For the fuel supply
q   With fuel pressure regulating valve -N276-
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
3 - Cable duct
q   Tighten the camshaft housing to a torque of 8 Nm
4 - Goes to the air filter
5 - Bolt
q   Tightening torque: 10 Nm
6 - Hall sender -G40-
q   With O-ring
q   Replace the O-ring if damaged.
7 - Bolt
q   replace
q   Tighten from centre outwards
q   Torque setting 10 Nm + 90°
8 - Camshaft housing
  Caution
Screw in two head studs (M6 x 80) on the camshaft casing before fitting the camshaft housing.
The head bolts are used to guide the camshaft casing and prevent that the roller rocker fingers loosen from the support elements.
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Remove any sealant remains.
q   Carefully clean the contact surfaces making sure that they are free of oil and grease
q   Before fitting, apply sealant → Catalogue of spare parts
9 - Bolt
q   Tightening torque: 20 Nm
10 - Attachment rings
11 - Turbocharger
12 - Oil pressure switch -F1-
q   check → Chapter
q   If sealing ring is leaking, cut open and replace
q   Tightening torque for bolt, 25 Nm
13 - Cylinder head gasket
q   replace
q   Metal gasket
q   After replacing, renew coolant completely
14 - Cylinder head
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Check for deformations → Fig.
q   The sealing surfaces in contact with the camshaft housing must be free of oil and grease
q   After replacing, renew coolant completely
15 - Guide pin
q   Tightening torque: 20 Nm
16 - Locking pin
17 - Supporting element
q   Do not interchange
q   With hydraulic valve clearance compensation.
q   Lubricate contact surface
18 - Roller rocker arms
q   Check roller bearing for ease of movement.
q   Lubricate contact surface
q   Use securing clip to clip onto support element when installing
19 - ATF strainer
q   Mount in the cylinder head.
q   replace
20 - Oil seal
  Note
When removing and installing, remember that the seals on the camshaft casing are different
q   replace
q   4 parts
q   Fitted on cylinder head
21 - Cylinder head bolt
q   replace
q   Follow installation instructions and sequence when loosening and tightening → Chapter
22 - Valve -1- for variable distribution -N205-
23 - Tappet with roller
q   Apply a light coat of engine oil to the slide surface
24 - O ring
q  
q   Oil before fitting

   
Checking cylinder head for distortion
–  Use straight edge and feeler gauge to measure cylinder head for distortion at several points.
l  Maximum permissible deformation: 0.05 mm

Reworking cylinder head sealing surface
Cylinder head is only to be reworked (face-ground) down to minimum dimension -a-.
l  Minimum dimension: -a- = 108.25 mm
