Checking pistons > < Pistons and conrods: dismantling and assembling

Oil the support and slide surfaces before carrying out assembly work.
   
1 - Circlip
q   replace
2 - Piston pin
q   If difficult to move, heat piston to 60 °C
3 - Piston
q   check → Chapter
q   Mark installation position and cylinder number.
q   Arrow on piston crown points to pulley end
q   Install using piston ring clamp
4 - Compression rings
q   Offset gaps by 120°
q   Remove and fit compression rings using pliers adapted for piston rings
q   The mark „TOP“ must face towards piston crown
q   Checking ring gap → Chapter
q   Checking piston ring side clearance → Chapter
5 - Oil scraper rings
q   Carefully remove and install by hand the oil scraper rings made up of 3 parts
q   Checking ring gap → Chapter
q   The play between the rings and the grooves cannot be measured
6 - Conrod bolt
q   Tightening torque: 30 Nm + 90°
q   replace
q   Oil threads and contact surface.
7 - Conrod bearing cap
q   Rods divided by fracturing (cracking) can only be fitted in one position and only with the corresponding conrod
q   Before removing mark the cylinder assignment -A-
q   Fitting position: the marking -B- shows toward the belt pulley (if there is no marking, this must be made before removing)
8 - Bearing cap
q   Do not interchange used bearing shells.
q   Insert bearing shells centrally.
q   Checking radial clearance → Chapter
9 - Conrod
q   Renew as set only.
q   Mark cylinder allocation before removing -A-
q   Fitting position: the marking -B- shows toward the belt pulley (if there is no marking, this must be made before removing)
q   Piston axial guided
q   Measuring radial clearance → Chapter
