Lower coolant pipe: Removing and installing

t	Removing → Anchor.

t	Installing → Anchor.

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Tray -VAS 6208-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing

–	Drain coolant → Chapter.

–	Remove support for intake manifold (unscrew bolts -arrows-).

–	Move wiring clear of bottom coolant pipe.

–	Detach coolant hoses -arrows- from coolant pipe (bottom).

–	Unscrew bolts -1- and -2- and pull coolant pipe out of thermostat housing.

Installing

Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

t	Replace O-rings.

t	Secure all screw joints with serial hose clips → Spare parts catalogue.

–	Fill up with coolant → Anchor.

Tightening torques

Coolant pipe (bottom) to:	Thermostat housing	10
Coolant pipe (bottom) to:	Oil cooler	23 → Remark
Support for intake manifold to:	Intake manifold	23
Support for intake manifold to:	Bracket for ancillary mechanical units	23
