Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Extractor -T40039-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor
Removing
  W00-10700
–  Release quick fasteners -arrows- and remove engine cover panel.
  E10-10065
–  Loosen the two bolts -arrows- on the lock carrier and remove the air duct -2-.
–  Separate the solenoid valve 1 for the active carbon vessel -N80--1- and remove from the air duct on the air filter housing.

–  Remove crankcase breather pipe -2-.
–  Detach crankcase breather hose from cylinder head cover.
–  Remove the pipe -1- at the combination valve for secondary air from the cylinder head cap and at the thermal shield-3-.
–  Pivot secondary air pipe slightly to the side.

–  Unscrew the earth wire -2-.
–  Unplug the electrical connectors -3- and move wiring clear.
–  Pull out ignition coils -1-.

Remove ignition coils using the extractor -T40039-.
–  Remove upper notched belt guard.

–  Remove the nuts -arrows- and detach the cylinder head cover.
Installing
Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

t  Renew gaskets and seals.
t  Replace the cylinder head cover gaskets where necessary.
t  Secure all screw joints with serial hose clips → Spare parts catalogue.

–  The transition areas -arrows- at the top sealing surface of the cylinder head to be sealed off by applying a fine layer of sealant; sealant mass → spare parts catalogue.

–  The transition areas -arrows- at the top sealing surface of the cylinder head to be sealed off by applying a fine layer of sealant; sealant mass → spare parts catalogue.
  A15-0138
–  First tighten inner nuts for cylinder head cover and then outer nuts diagonally.
–  Install top section of toothed belt cover making sure it engages securely on centre section of toothed belt cover in the process.
