Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Extractor -2085-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Hose clamp -3036-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Guide sleeve -T10071-, see equivalent → Anchor

Operation process
–  Place the lock carrier plate into service position → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.50
–  Remove the timing belt from the cogwheel of the camshaft → Chapter.
   
–  Loosen the sprocket of the cam shaft with the counter holder -3036-.
–  Remove the sprocket from the camshaft.

–  To guide oil seal extractor, screw securing bolt for camshaft sprocket -arrow- into camshaft as far as it will go until finger-tight.
–  Unscrew inner part of oil seal extractor -2085- 2 turns (approx. 3 mm) from the outer part and lock in position with the knurled screw.

–  Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor -2085-, place it in position and, exerting firm pressure, screw it into oil seal as far as possible.
–  Loosen the knurled head screw and turn the inner part against the cam shaft till the sealant ring (gasket) has engaged.
–  Clamp the gasket extractor in a vice at the flat edges and remove the gasket with pliers.

–  Place the guide sleeve -T10071/1- onto the camshaft journal.
  Note
Do not oil seal sealing lip.
–  Slide oil seal over guide sleeve onto camshaft journal.
–  Take off guide sleeve.

–  Press oil seal in as far as the stop using press sleeve -T10071/3- and bolt -T10071/4-.

–  Mounting the cam shaft sprocket.
l  Note the fitting position: Not installation position: The narrow path of the cam shaft sprocket points outwards-arrows- and the OT marking is visible.

–  Tighten the fastening screw of the cam shaft sprocket (use the counter holder -3036- for this).
  Note
If a piston is at TDC the valves could strike the piston when turning the camshaft. For this reason, none of the pistons should be at TDC. Otherwise there is a risk of damage to valves and pistons.
–  Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing) → Anchor.
–  Assemble the lock carrier with attachments → Bodywork - Exterior assembly work ; Rep. gr.50.
  A13-0381
–  The torque reaction support must set itself on its rubber stop by means of its self weight, then tighten the nuts -arrows-.
Tightening torque → Chapter „Assembly mountings - exploded view“
–  Fit the front bumper trim → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.63.
–  Check headlight adjustment → Booklet301.
