Removing and installing vibration damper t  Removing → Anchor t  Installing → Anchor Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Adjustment tool -T40098-, please see Correspondence → Anchor

t  Hose clamp -T10355-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing –  Loosen the fasteners -2-, -3- and -5- and remove the front noise insulation. –  Move lock carrier to service position → Rep. gr.50.   Note t  The charge air tubes cannot be removed for this process. t  For this procedure, the charged air hoses must not be removed. t  Mount the lock carrier plate without removing the charged air and coolant hoses.   Caution Risk of breakage if the poly V-belt runs in the opposite direction when refitted. Before removing, mark direction of operation of poly V-belt with chalk or felt-tipped pen in preparation for re-installation.

–  To slacken poly V-belt turn tensioner in direction of -arrow-. –  Lock tensioner with locking tool -T40098-. –  Remove poly V-belt from pulley on vibration damper.

–  Turn the vibration damper to „TDC“ position -arrow- using counterhold tool -T10355-. l  Notch on vibration damper must align with arrow marking on cover for timing chains (bottom). –  Remove the bolt for vibration damper using counterhold tool -T10355-.   Caution Risk of damage to engine. To avoid disturbing valve timing, do not turn crankshaft out of „TDC“ position when vibration damper is removed.

Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following: l  Tightening torque → Chapter   Note t  Renew bolt for vibration damper. t  Renew the O-ring -1-. –  Lubricate sealing lip of oil seal with engine oil. –  Install the vibration damper while observing the cogwheel -arrow-. –  Installing the Poly-V belt → Chapter. –  Install the lock carrier → Rep. gr.50.
