Checking fuel pressure sender -G247-
Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Extractor -T10118-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Torque wrench -VAG 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor.
t  Central diagnosis -VAS 5051B- or central diagnosis -VAS 5052-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Pressure sensor tester -VAS 6394-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Adapter -VAS 5570-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Socket wrench insert, double hexagon 1/2" -VAS 5301/7-, see equivalent → Anchor

Procedure:
–  Pull off engine cover panel -arrows-.
  WARNING
The fuel system is pressurised. The fuel pressure in the high-pressure part of the injection system must be reduced to a residual pressure prior to opening; for procedure see → Chapter.
–  Remove the fuel pressure sender -G247- → Chapter.
  E10-10100
–  Screw in adapter -VAS 6394/2- in place of fuel pressure sender -G247- and tighten adapter with the same torque as that specified for fuel pressure sender -G247-.

  N24-10489
–  Unscrew plug -2- on pressure gauge -VAS 6394/1- and screw removed fuel pressure sender -G247- into opening. Tighten to torque specified for fuel pressure sender.
  N24-10400
–  Using the adapter for testing functions -VAS 5570-, establish the electrical connection between the vehicle and the fuel pressure sender -G247-.
–  Connect → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
–  Switch on the ignition.
–  Select „Engine electronics“ in vehicle self-diagnosis.
–  Then select the „measured values“.
–  Select the „fuel pressure“ from the list.
Display zone 3 shows the actual pressure value being transmitted to the engine control unit by the fuel pressure sender -G247-.
  N24-10488
–  Switch on the pressure gauge -VAS 6394/1- by pressing button -A- once briefly.
  Note
If the -A- button is pressed for 2 seconds, the lighting illuminates for 20 seconds.
Pressure gauge -VAS 6394/1- should indicate 0 bar. If this is not the case, press button -C- once briefly to zero the tester.
  N24-10457
–  Connect pressure line of pressure gauge -VAS 6394/1- to adapter -VAS 6394/2-.
–  Start the engine.
–  Compare the pressure indicated by pressure gauge -VAS 6394/1- with the actual pressure value on the → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
l  The pressure difference between each other should not be more than 5 bar.
–  If the deviation is more than 5 bar, test a new fuel pressure sender -G247-.
  WARNING
The fuel system is pressurised. The fuel pressure in the high-pressure part of the injection system must be reduced to a residual pressure prior to opening; for procedure see → Chapter.
–  Screw a new fuel pressure sender -G247- into pressure gauge -VAS 6394/1-.
–  Repeat the check with the new fuel pressure sender -G247- and compare both measurement values.
If the two values still do not agree:
–  Check the electrical connection between the fuel pressure sender -G247- and the engine control unit. Refer to → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
If the values agree:
–  Install the new fuel pressure sender -G247- → Chapter.
