Test intake manifold change-over function
Test intake manifold change-over function
This check must only be carried out with insufficient engine torque. This means that when not enough elasticity or acceleration capacity is available / at hand.
Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Manual vacuum pump -VAS 6213-, see equivalency → Anchor
Test prerequisites
t  The intake manifold flap valve -N316- has been checked with → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
Perform the following steps if the intake manifold flap valve -N316- is OK.
–  Carefully pull off engine cover panel.
–  Start engine and run at idling speed.
–  Have a second mechanic suddenly increase the engine speed (high revs of the engine). Observe the vacuum switch integrated for intake manifold change over.

l  The vacuum unit should pick up -arrow-.
If the change-over does not operate as described:
–  Check the vacuum system for leaks.
–  Check ease of movement of the switching mechanism. In doing so, move the linkage by hand.
–  Check that the vacuum hoses are correctly connected.
–  Check the vacuum hoses for porosity.
  A24-10580
–  Detach vacuum hose -1- from intake manifold flap valve -N316--2-.
  A24-10580
–  Move adjuster ring -1- on hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to position -A- to select "vacuum".
  N24-10282
–  Connect the hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to the actuator for the intake manifold flap valve -N316-.
–  Operate the manual vacuum pump -VAS 6213- a few times.
Linkage should move in both directions (arrows).
–  The vacuum unit should change or move.
