  Caution
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to the cramped conditions:
t  All the various lines (e.g. fuel, hydraulic system, active carbon filter system, coolant, refrigerant, brake fluid and vacuum pipes and hoses) and electrical wiring must be installed in their original positions.
t  To prevent damaging the hoses, ensure that all mobile or hot components are easily accessible.
  Note
t  When the engine is hot the cooling system is under pressure. Therefore, this pressure must de reduced before repairing.
t  Hose connections are secured with spring type clips. Always use spring clips when performing repairs.
t  Hose clip pliers -VAS 6340- are recommended for fitting spring-type hose clips.
t  Coolant hoses should be free from tension when installing, so that they do not come into contact with other components (observe markings on coolant connection and hose).
Perform cooling system leakage check with cooling system tester -VAG 1274B- and the adapter -V.A.G 1274/8- and -V.A.G 1274/9-.
