Check back pressure
Test condition
l  Fuel pressure correct and pressure gauge -V.A.G 1318- connected.
Checking sequence
–  Remove cover from fuse holder.
–  Remove the fuse for the fuel pump from the fuse holder. Fuse allocation → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
–  Connect the remote control -VAG 1348/3A- with adapter line -VAG 1348/3 2- to the fuse socket and on the positive terminal of the battery.
  WARNING
Fuel system is under pressure! Wear safety goggles and appropriate clothing to avoid injury and contact with skin. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then eliminate the pressure by carefully separating the pipe.

–  Pull supply hose -1- off fuel filter outlet.
  Note
Press in safety ring to release fuel lines.

–  Close pressure gauge shut-off tap (lever at right angles to the flow direction - position -B-).
–  Press the remote control -VAG 1348/3A- for approx. 10 seconds to fill the fuel filter and to build up the system pressure to 4 bar.
–  Observe pressure drop on gauge. After 10 minutes the pressure must not drop below 3 bar.
If the pressure drops further:
–  Check pipe connections for leaks.
