General notes on injection
t  If the fuel system has been opened it must be purged before starting the engine .
t  The engine control unit is equipped with self-diagnosis. Before carrying out repairs and fault finding, the fault memory must be interrogated. Also, the low pressure hoses and connections must be checked (infiltrated air).
t  The fuel hoses in the engine compartment must only be attached with plastic clamps. The use of clamp or screw-type clips is not permissible.
t  For trouble-free operation of the electrical components a voltage of at least 11.5 V is necessary
t  Do not use sealants containing silicone. Particles of silicone drawn into the engine, will not be burnt in the engine and damage the Lambda probe.
t  If the engine starts, runs for a short period and then stops, after fault finding, repairs or component tests, then the fault may lie with the immobiliser blocking the engine control unit. In this case the control unit must be adapted → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051“Guided functions”.
t  Certain tests may lead to a fault being detected by the control unit and stored. Therefore, the fault memory must be interrogated and deleted if necessary after all tests and repairs have been completed.
t  After deleting the fault memory, the conformance code must be generated.
t  The vehicles are equipped with a fuel shut-off system in the event of collisions. It reduces the danger of a fire in a crash as the fuel pump is switched off via the fuel pump relay. It also achieves more comfort when starting the engine. When the door is opened, the fuel pump is activated for 2 seconds in order to build up pressure in the fuel system.
