Part I
   
1 - 15 Nm
2 - Oil dipstick
q   Oil level must not be above max. mark on dipstick!
3 - Funnel
4 - Guide pipe
5 - Intermediate plate
6 - Oil pump with rotational balancing unit
q   With 12 bar pressure relief valve.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
7 - 15 Nm + further 1/4 (90°)
q   Replace
q   Take into account the different lengths of the bolts → Fig.
8 - 15 Nm
9 - Oil pan
q   Clean sealing surface before installing
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
10 - 15 Nm
11 - Seal
q   Mounted at → Item per vehicle
12 - Oil drain plug, 30 Nm
q   With safety washer
q   Replace
13 - Pinions
q   Note fitting position:
q   Sprocket can only be fitted on oil pump shaft in one position.
q   Renewing chain sprocket on crankshaft → Chapter
14 - 10 Nm

q   Replace
q   Lubricate before installing
18 - 20 Nm +1/4 turn further (90º)
q   Replace

q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   For removing and installing, detach the oil sump → Chapter
q   Renewing crankshaft oil seal on pulley end → Chapter

Part II
   
1 - Chain guard
2 - Chain for oil pump
q   Mark direction of rotation (assembly position) with colour pen before removing
3 - Dowel sleeves
4 - Intermediate plate
5 - Oil pump with rotational balancing unit
q   Before fitting, ensure that the two adjustments sleeves for centring are in place
6 - 9 Nm
7 - Cover
q   Prevents engine oil from foaming
8 - 20 Nm
9 - 8 Nm
10 - Oil suction pipe
q   Clean strainer if dirty
11 - O ring
q   Replace
12 - 15 Nm + further 1/4 (90°)
q   Replace
q   Take into account the different lengths of the bolts → Fig.
13 - Bolt.
q   Replace
q   Note different bolt lengths → Fig.
q   Tightening sequence → Fig.
14 - Exterior rotor
q   Check sliding surfaces for grooves
q   The mark should be visible.
15 - Interior rotor
q   Check sliding surfaces for grooves
16 - Oil pump cover
17 - Pinions
q   Note fitting position:
q   Sprocket can only be fitted on oil pump shaft in one position.
q   Renewing chain sprocket on crankshaft → Chapter
18 - 20 Nm +1/4 turn further (90º)
q   Replace
19 - Chain tensioner with tensioning plate
q   Pretighten before assembly → Chapter
20 - 15 Nm

   
Positions of bolts for balance shaft assembly
A - Hexagon collared bolt M7x40
B - Hexagon collared bolt M7x70
C - Hexagon collared bolt M7x90
D - Hexagon collared bolt M7x55
E - Seal bolt with O-ring

Tightening sequence for balance shaft assembly
–  Proceed as follows:
1.  Screw in bolts -arrows- hand-tight.
2.  Tighten bolts -arrows- to 15 Nm in diagonal sequence starting from inside and working outwards.
3.  Turn bolts -arrows- 90° further (1/4 turn) in diagonal sequence starting from inside and working outwards using a rigid wrench.
Part III
Oil filter, vehicles with engine codes BWJ, CDLD, CDLA → Anchor.

  A17-10108
1 - Tube
q   For crankcase ventilation.
2 - Oil pressure switch -F1-
q   1.4 bar, black
q   Checking → Chapter
q   Tightening torque: 20 Nm
3 - 15 Nm
q   With earth cable for oil pressure switch
4 - Spring retainer
5 - 25 Nm
6 - Oil cooler
q   See note → Chapter
q   Ensure clearance from surrounding components
q   Coolant hose schematic diagram → Chapter.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
7 - Seal
q   Replace
8 - 15 Nm
9 - Seal
q   Replace
10 - Dustcap
11 - Oil filter housing, 25 Nm
q   Remove and install with the extractor -3417-, see equivalent → Anchor
q   Draining → Chapter
12 - Oil filter element
q   Before removing, drain the oil filter housing → Chapter
13 - Anti-surge valve
14 - Seal
q   Replace
15 - Oil filter bracket
q   With pressure relief valve, approx. 4 bar
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
16 - Spring-type hose clip

1 - Tube
q   For engine block ventilation pre-heater
2 - Oil pressure switch -F1-
q   1.4 bar, black
q   Checking → Chapter
q   Tightening torque: 21 Nm
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
3 - 15 Nm
q   With earth cable for oil pressure switch
4 - Spring retainer
5 - Bolt.
q   15 Nm
6 - Oil cooler
q   See note → Chapter
q   Ensure clearance to adjacent components
q   Coolant hose schematic diagram → Chapter.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
7 - Seal
q   Replace
8 - Oil filter housing, 25 Nm
q   Remove and install with the extractor -3417-, see equivalent → Anchor
q   Draining → Chapter
9 - Dustcap
10 - Seal
