Fitting
  Note
t  Observe use-by date of sealant.
t  The sump must be installed immediately after applying the silicone sealant.
  N17-0012
–  Cut off tube nozzle at upper marking (nozzle Ø: approx. 3 mm).
–  Apply the silicone-based sealant to the clean contact surface of the oil sump, proceeding as shown. The strip of sealant must:
t  be 2 - 3 mm thick
t  Apply along the inner edge of the bolt holes -arrows-.
  Note
t  The sealing length should not be thicker, if so, sealant may get on the oil sump, obstructing the collector of the suction tube of the oil pump.
t  When installing the sump with the gearbox removed from the vehicle, make sure the sump is flush with the cylinder block.
t  When installing the sump with the gearbox installed in the vehicle, make sure the sump makes contact with the gearbox.
t  After fitting sump, allow sealant to dry for approx. 30 minutes. Only then should the engine be refilled with oil.
–  Fit the oil sump immediately, and tighten the bolts as described below:
1 - Tighten all the bolts of the oil sump/engine block slightly crosswise.
2 - Tighten the bolts of the oil sump/gearbox slightly.
3 - Retighten all the bolts of the oil sump/engine block slightly crosswise.
4 - Tighten the bolts of the oil sump/gearbox bolts to 40 Nm.
5 - Tighten all the bolts of the oil sump/engine block crosswise to 15 Nm.
Continue installation following reverse order for removing.
