| Do not interchange used bearing shells. |

| Bearing shells that have been worn down to the nickel layer must be replaced. |

| Remove the crankshaft bearing caps then clean the bearing caps and supports. |
| –
| Place the Plastigage thread the same with of the bearing on to the journal or the half bearing. |

| The Plastigage thread should remain in the centre of the half bearing. |
| –
| Fit the bearing cap and tighten to 65 Nm without rotating the crankshaft. |
| –
| Remove the bearing caps once more. |
| –
| Check the width of the Plastigage thread against the measurement scale. |
