Coolant recycling pipes, removing and installing Removing → Anchor. Installing → Anchor. Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter. Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Pliers for spring-type clips -VAS 6499- or pliers for hose clamps -V.A.G 1921-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Tray -VAS 6208-, see equivalent → Anchor Removing   WARNING Hot steam/hot coolant can escape - risk of scalding. t  The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is hot. t  Cover filler cap on expansion tank with a cloth and open carefully to dissipate pressure. –  Open filler cap on coolant expansion tank.

–  Remove the air conduit cover by releasing the side tabs -arrows-.

–  Release the lower air conduit by releasing the tabs -arrows-. –  Detach bottom section of air duct with air hose. Vehicles with activated carbon vessel in the engine compartment

–  Remove the purging line -1-, disengage the activated carbon vessel -A- and remove upwards -B-. Move the activated carbon vessel to one side. All

–  Release the hose clamp -2-. –  Remove bolt -4-. –  Unplug the connector -arrow- and move the cable to one side.   Note Ignore positions -1 and 3-.

–  Release the fasteners -1 and 2- to remove the central soundproofing sump.

–  Remove the air conduit guard -Pos. 1 and 2-.

–  Unscrew bolts -1- and remove the air duct.   Note Ignore positions -2,3, 4- and the -arrow-.

–  Place the drip tray -VAS 6208- under the engine. –  Disconnect the coolant hoses from the coolant recycling pump -V51--arrows-.   Note Ignore positions -1 and 2-.

–  Disconnect the vacuum pipe -1- to the active carbon filter by pressing the release tab.   Note Disregard: -Pos. 2-. –  Separate the vacuum pipe from the front coolant pipes.

–  Unscrew bolts -1and 2- and detach coolant pipe -arrows-. Installing l  Tightening torques → Chapter Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note t  Renew gaskets and seals. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue. –  Assembly of hose connections with couplings → Chapter. –  Fill up coolant → Chapter.
