Checking fuel delivery rate (engine codes CCZB, CDAA)
  Note
The fuel deliver rate will initially be checked in the engine compartment using the guided function „Checking fuel delivery rate, quick test“. If the minimum delivery rate is not achieved, a second measurement must be carried out on the flange of the fuel supply unit.
Check the fuel delivery rate in the engine compartment:
–  Connect the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5052 B- to the vehicle.
–  On -VAS 5052 B-, select the Guided fault finding.
–  The vehicle identification is carried out.
–  Select Motor.
–  Select Checking fuel delivery rate, quick test.
–  Follow the instructions of the Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5052 B-.
Check the fuel delivery rate at the flange:
l  Carry out the guided function „Checking fuel delivery rate, quick test“ → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
l  Connect the remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A- and the measurement adapter / DSO (5 pin) -VAS 5565- are connected to the fuel supply unit.
l  Battery charger, connected
l  Fuel level in the fuel tank
Checking process:
  WARNING
Fuel supply line is pressurised. Wear safety goggles and appropriate clothing to avoid injury and contact with skin. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then eliminate the pressure by carefully separating the pipe.

–  Pull fuel supply line -arrow- off fuel filter.
  N20-10629
–  Connect fuel supply pipe to pressure tester -VAS 6550-, using adapter -VAS 6550/1-. Guide the adapter -VAS 6550/2- into a measuring beaker.
–  Make sure that drain tap is closed and cut-off taps are open.
–  Operate the remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A-. In doing so, slowly close the shut-off cock -arrow- until pressure gauge indicates a pressure of 4 bar. From here on, do not change position of shut-off tap.
–  Empty the fuel tank
  N20-10632
–  The quantity of fuel delivered by the fuel pump is dependent upon battery voltage. This is why the voltage tester -V.A.G 1715- should be additionally connected to wires -1- and -5- of adapter -VAS 5565-.
–  Operate remote control for 60 seconds while measuring voltage at fuel pump.
  N20-10423
–  Compare quantity of fuel delivered with specification.
*) Minimum delivery rate cm³/60 seconds
**) Voltage at fuel pump with engine not running and pump running.
Readout example:
During the test a voltage of 10.5 volts is measured. On this basis, the minimum delivery rate is 1,200 cm³/60 s.
If specification is not obtained:
–  Remove the filler cap on the fuel filler neck and repeat the inspection. If the specified delivery quantity is not reached, check the purging of the fuel tank.
If reading again does not match specification:
–  Remove fuel delivery unit and check filter strainer for soiling.
–  If there is no fault here, replace the flange with fuel filter.
–  Repeat check.
If reading again does not match specification:
–  Fuel pump is defective, renew fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
If fuel delivery rate has been attained, but nevertheless you suspect irregularities in the fuel supply system (e.g. intermittent failure of fuel supply system): Check the fuel pressurewhen driving → Chapter.
