Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Base -VAS 6340-, see equivalent → Anchor
Removing
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.

Altea, Altea XL, Leon
–  Release activated charcoal filter -arrow B-, lift off -arrow A- and move clear to one side with line -1- connected.

For all vehicles
–  Release hose clip -1- and detach coolant hose.
–  Loosen the bolts -arrows- and remove the oil cooler upwards from the cylinder block.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:

t  Replace the bolts tightened using goniometrics.
t  Renew gasket.
t  Secure hose unions with hose clamps the same as those of the series → Electronic parts catalogue.

–  Insert the oil cooler in the bracket and tighten the fixing screws -arrows- crosswise to 8 Nm and continue to turn by 90°.
–  Fill up with coolant → Chapter.
  Note
The entire coolant must be replaced if the engine oil cooler is renewed.
