Checking sequence
The oil pressure switch is located on the gearbox side, below the two covers for the camshafts.

–  Unplug electrical connector at oil pressure switch -F1-.
  N17-10190
–  Unscrew the oil pressure switch -F1- using the socket wrench E/C 24 -T40175- and screw into the oil pressure tester -VAG 1342-.
–  Screw oil pressure tester -VAG 1342- into the cylinder head in place of the oil pressure switch -F1-.
–  Attach the brown wire of the oil pressure tester -VAG 1342- to the earth (-).
–  Connect the oil pressure tester -VAG 1342- to the battery plus (+) using the auxiliary cable from the auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C- and connect to the oil pressure switch -F1-.
–  If the LED lights up, replace oil pressure switch -F1-.
If LED does not light up:
–  Start engine and increase speed slowly. The LED must light-up when an overpressure of 0.3 - 0.7 bar occurs, otherwise replace the oil pressure switch -F1-.
–  Increase engine speed further. At 2000 rpm and an oil temperature of 80 °C the oil pressure should be at least 2.0 bar.
At higher engine speeds, the oil pressure must not exceed 7.0 bar.
