Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Torque wrench -VAG 1601-, see equivalent → Anchor.

t	Hose clamp -3415-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Hose clamp -3415/1-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Fastening screw -T10340-, please see Correspondence → Anchor

t	Torque wrench -VAG 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor.

t  Dial gauge -VAS 6079-

t  Adjustment tool -T10170- Removing –  Remove poly V-belt → Chapter. –  Turn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation to TDC No. 1 cylinder → Chapter.

–  Immobilise the crankshaft with the retaining tool -3415- and the counterhold -3415/1-, unscrew the screw in the middle and remove the pulley. Fitting –  Tighten pulley hand-tight using a new securing bolt.

–  Turn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation to TDC No. 1 cylinder.

–  Unscrew plug -arrow- from crankcase.

–  Tighten the securing screw -T10340- until the end point in the crankshaft sump. –  Tighten the securing bolts securing bolts -T10340- to 30 Nm. Use the securing screw -T10340- to immobilise the crankshaft in the direction of operation of the engine.   Note t  Note that all contact surfaces from the securing bolt to the crankshaft chain sprocket must be free of oil and grease. t  Always use a new bolt. Tightening torque: 150 Nm + 1/2 turn (180º)

–  Immobilise the crankshaft with the retaining tool -3415- and the counterhold -3415/1-.

–  Undo the fastening bolt -T10340- of the crankshaft sump. –  Screw in the locking bolt -arrow- on the crankshaft sump.

Tightening torque: 30 Nm –  Install poly V-belt → Chapter. Continue installation following reverse order for removing. Tightening torques
