t  Rotation tool -U-40050-
Removing
–  Mark direction of rotation of the Poly-V belt.
–  Loosen the alternator attachment bolts.

–  Position the rotation tool -U-40050- and rotate the alternator downwards using the tool.
–  Remove the Poly-V belt from the alternator pulley.
–  Remove the trapezoidal belt for the power steering hydraulic pump: → Rep. Gr.48.
–  Remove the Poly-V belt.
Fitting
–  Fit the Poly-V belt onto the crankshaft pulley/damper and the coolant pump pulley.
–  Fit the trapezoidal belt for the power steering hydraulic pump: → Rep. Gr.48.
–  Press down fully at least three times on the alternator using the rotation tool -U-40050- to ensure free rotation.
–  Press down on the alternator and fit the Poly-V belt.
  Note
On fitting the Poly-V belt, make sure that it is correctly located on the pulleys.
–  After fitting the Poly-V belt, without tightening the alternator, run the engine (approx. 10 rotations) by using the starter motor.
–  Tighten the alternator bolts, first the lower bolt and then the upper bolt to a torque of 25 Nm.
