| Position the rotation tool -U-40050- and rotate the alternator downwards using the tool. |

| Remove the Poly-V belt from the alternator pulley. |

| Remove the trapezoidal belt for the power steering hydraulic pump: → Rep. Gr.48. |

| Remove the Poly-V belt. |
| –
| Fit the Poly-V belt onto the crankshaft pulley/damper and the coolant pump pulley. |
| –
| Fit the trapezoidal belt for the power steering hydraulic pump: → Rep. Gr.48. |
| –
| Press down fully at least three times on the alternator using the rotation tool -U-40050- to ensure free rotation. |
| –
| Press down on the alternator and fit the Poly-V belt. |
Note | On fitting the Poly-V belt, make sure that it is correctly located on the pulleys. |

| After fitting the Poly-V belt, without tightening the alternator, run the engine (approx. 10 rotations) by using the starter motor. |
| –
| Tighten the alternator bolts, first the lower bolt and then the upper bolt to a torque of 25 Nm. |
