  WARNING
Fuel system is under pressure! Use protective goggles and clothing to prevent injuries and contact with the skin. Before releasing the connections on the hoses, place absorbent cloths round the connection. Then eliminate the pressure by carefully separating the pipe.
Test condition
l  Fuel pressure must be correct, check: → Chapter
   
–  Pull off connector -arrows- from all the injectors.
–  Unclip wiring harness of injectors.
–  Undo bolts holding fuel rail to intake manifold.
–  Pull fuel rail together with injectors out of intake manifold (fuel line remains connected).
–  Fold rear seat bench forwards.
–  Remove cover of fuel delivery unit.

–  Connect remote control for V.A.G 1348 -V.A.G 1348/3A- to contact -5- of fuel pump and battery positive (+) using adapter cables from auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594C-.
–  Connect contact -5- on connector and contact -1- on fuel pump using adapter cables from auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594C-.
  Note
The following operation is to make the fuel pump run when the engine is stopped.
–  Checking injectors for leakage (visual check). Only 1 to 2 drops per minute may emit from each valve when fuel pump is running.
If the fuel loss is greater:
–  Renew the leaking injector → Chapter.
  Note
Always renew seals.
