  WARNING
Fuel system is under pressure! Before opening the system place a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling fuel hose from connection. Wear safety goggles and appropriate clothing to avoid injury and contact with skin.
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to the cramped conditions:
t  All conduits (for example for fuel, hydraulics, carbon filter, liquid cooler and cooling agent, brake fluid, low pressure) and the electric cables must be placed in such a way that they return to their original position.
t  Ensure that there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
Note the precautionary instructions for disconnecting the battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27
When removing and installing fuel gauge sender or fuel pump (fuel delivery unit) from a full or partly full fuel tank, observe the following:
t  Before beginning work, place an extraction hose close to the opening in the fuel tank to extract escaping fuel fumes and switch on exhaust extraction system. If no exhaust extraction system is available, a radial fan (as long as motor is not in air flow) with a displacement greater than 15m3/h may be used.
t  Avoid skin contact with the fuel! Use fuel resistant gloves!
