Fuel system: Purging
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter
  DANGER!
Bleeding should only be carried out when the engine is cold - there is a risk of fire from the released fuel vapour.
As a small amount of fuel may spill out, the bleed valve should be wrapped with a clean cloth

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Adaptor cable -SAT 1348/3-3-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Adapters -VAG 1318/20-
t  V.A.G 1348 remote control -VAG 1348/3A-

Prerequisites

l  All fuses are OK. Fuse allocation → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
l  Battery voltage at least 11.5 V
l  Fuel pump relay OK
  Note
To avoid damage to the catalytic converter, the fuel system must be purged of air without return line after performing work on fuel lines or on fuel filter. The vehicle must only be started after purging the system of air.

Work sequence
–  Remove cover from fuse holder.
  E20-10031
–  Remove fuse 34 for the fuel pump in the fuse holder. Fuse installation → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
–  Connect V.A.G. 1348 remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A- with adapter cable -SAT 1348/3-3- to right pin to fuel pump and battery positive (+).
  WARNING
Fuel system is under pressure! Wear safety goggles and appropriate clothing to avoid injury and contact with skin. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then eliminate the pressure by carefully separating the pipe.
–  Remove the air filter housing → Chapter.
  E20-10032
–  Unscrew and remove the cap -arrow- of the bleed valve from the fuel distributor.
  N20-0509
–  Screw the adapter -VAG 1318/20-1- onto the adapter -VAG 1318/20-.
–  Turn valve (on T piece) anti-clockwise until it is entirely open.
–  Manually screw adapter -VAG 1318/20- to the fuel distributor bleeding valve.
  N20-0528
–  Connect hose to adaptor -VAG 1318/20-1- and insert hose end in a container to collect the fuel, see figure.
–  Turn the valve (at the T-shape element) of the adapter -VAG 1318/20- fully clockwise.
–  Check the adaptor and hose connectors for leaks.
–  Operate V.A.G 1348 remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A- until fuel flows free of air bubbles from breather valve.
  E20-0102
–  Turn valve (on T piece) anti-clockwise until it is entirely open again.
–  Take the hose off the adapter -VAG 1318/20-1- and then theadaptor -VAG 1318/20- off the fuel distributor bleeder valve.
  N20-0528
–  Screw on the bleeding valve cover from the fuel distributor.
–  Fit the air filter housing → Chapter.
