Balance shaft timing chain: Removing and installing
Removing:
–  Remove timing chain cover (top) → Chapter.
–  Remove timing chain cover (bottom) → Chapter.
–  Remove distribution chain → Chapter.
   
–  Remove guide rail for camshaft timing chain -1-.
–  Remove chain tensioner for camshaft timing chain -3-.

–  Remove the balance shaft chain tensioner -1-.
–  Remove tensioning rail -2-.
–  Remove guide rail -3-.
–  Remove guide rail -4-.
–  Remove timing chain.
Installing:
l  Tightening torques → Chapter

–  Turn idler gear/balance shaft to markings -arrows-.
  Note
Due to the ratio, the markings only align after every 7th turn.

–  Fit timing chain; the timing chain links with coloured markings must be positioned at the markings on the chain sprockets.

–  Fit tensioning rail for timing chain and tighten bolt -2-.
–  Fit guide rail for timing chain and tighten bolts -4-.
–  Fit guide rail for timing chain and tighten bolts -3-.
–  Insert chain tensioner of timing chain -1- with locking fluid → ETKA (electronic parts catalogue).

–  Check the setting again.

–  Check markings on idler gear/balance shaft -arrow-.
  Note
For illustration purposes, the markings on the idler gear/balance shaft are shown with the chain removed.
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the dismantling sequence.
