General information about the ignition system
t  The battery should only be disconnected with the ignition switched off. If the vehicle has a security-coded radio, obtain the correct anti-theft code number before disconnecting the battery, if necessary.
t  Observe required procedures after connecting battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
t  For trouble-free operation of the electrical components a voltage of at least 11.5 V is necessary
t  After completing work, consult the fault memory of the engine control unit and delete all faults that have been stored during testing and repair. After deleting the fault memory, the readiness code must be generated → vehicle diagnosis tester„Guided functions“.
t  If the engine starts, runs for a short period and then stops, after fault finding, repairs or component tests, then the fault may lie with the immobiliser blocking the engine control unit. In this case the control unit must be adapted → vehicle diagnosis tester„Guided functions“.
