Valve gear - assembly overview
1 - 100 Nm
q   Use counter-hold tool -3415- to loosen and tighten.
2 - Camshaft wheels
3 - Oil seal
q   replace → Chapter
4 - Woodruff key
5 - 23 Nm
6 - Ladder-type frame
q   The seal surface cannot be reworked
q   With integrated camshaft bearings
q   Bearing 1 on the pulley
q   Note the tightening order for the camshaft bearing sockets → Chapter
q   Carefully apply the sealant D 188 800 A1 in the sealant groove and the bottom sealing surface
7 - Camshaft:
q   check the axial play → Chapter
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Check radial clearance with Plastigage; Wear limit: 0.1 mm
q   out-of-true: Max. 0.04 mm
8 - Roller rocker arms
q   Do not interchange
q   Check roller bearing
q   Lubricate contact surface
q   ?When installing, secure to support element using securing clip.
9 - Supporting element
q   Do not interchange
q   With hydraulic valve clearance compensation.
q   Lubricate contact surface
q   check → Chapter
10 - Woodruff keys
11 - Valve plate spring
12 - Valve spring
q   Remove and install with cylinder head removed using valve spring compressor -2037-
q   Cylinder head fitted → Chapter
13 - Valve stem seal
q   replace → Chapter
14 - Valve guide
q   check → Chapter
15 - Sealing cap
q   Fit precisely
q   For removal, pierce the only the centre of the rubber using a screwdriver and lever
16 - Cylinder head
q   The sealing surface on the camshaft side may not be reworked
q   Reworking valve seats → Chapter.
17 - Valves:
q   Not to be reworked, only grinding in is permissible
q   Valve dimensions → Chapter

   
Check the sealing surface of the cylinder head
Cylinder head reworking dimension: a = minimum 132.9 mm
