Checking fuel tank breather

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Vacuum tester -V.A.G. 1368-

t	Manual vacuum pump -VAS 6213-

Test condition

l	Ignition must be switched off.

Checking sequence

–	Remove the ventilation pipe -1-. To do so, press the release tabs.

–	Then connect the hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213- and the vacuum tester -V.A.G 1368- to the venting line as shown.

–	Set vacuum tester to -A/B- position.

–	Operate the manual vacuum pump -VAS 6213- a few times. Vacuum must not build up.

If a vacuum builds up:

–	Check the ventilation opening on the active carbon filter for soiling and clean if necessary.

If a vacuum does not build up:

–	Temporarily seal ventilation opening and operate vacuum pump again several times. A vacuum must build up.

If a vacuum does not build up:

–	Renew active carbon filter.
