Tightening torques > < Engine to stand: securing
Fitting
Fitting
Fitting operations are carried out in reverse order to removal operations, noting the following:
–  Check clutch release bearing for wear, replace if necessary.
–  Lightly grease clutch release bearing, release bearing guide sleeve and input shaft teeth.
–  Check whether the dowel sleeves for centring engine/gearbox are in the cylinder block, install if necessary.
   
–  Fit intermediate plate onto sealing flange and slide onto dowel sleeves -arrows-.
–  When inserting the engine assembly, ensure that there is enough space to work relative to the articulated semi axles.
–  Secure the engine assembly and the engine assembly brackets and tighten the securing bolts to torque → Chapter.
–  Installing drive shafts: → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. Gr.40.
Vehicles with air conditioning
–  Installing air conditioning compressor.
Continued for all vehicles
–  Electrical connections and routing: → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.97.
–  Installing clutch command cylinder: → 02T 5 speed manual gearbox; Rep. Gr.30.
–  Install gear selector mechanism: → 02T 5 speed manual gearbox; Rep. Gr.34.
–  Fill with coolant → Chapter.
  Note!
t  When refitting the battery, activate all of the vehicle equipment (radio/radio and navigation system, clock, electric windows) according to the Instruction Manual.
t  Other measures after reconnecting the voltage supply → Chapter.
–  Carry out a test drive and interrogate fault memory: → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis.
