Verification process
–  Connect the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 5051- as follows:
   
–  Connect the cable -VAS 5051/3- to the diagnostic connection.
–  Start engine and run at idling speed.
  Note!
If the engine does not start then run it using the starter motor for at least 5 seconds. Do not switch off the ignition under any circumstances.
Select operating mode:
–  Push the button on the -VAS 5051- screen “Vehicle self-diagnosis”.
Select vehicle system:
–  Press briefly on the screen -1- selection “01 – Engine electronics”.
The control unit identification and coding are indicated on the display
–  Press key to continue.
Select diagnostic function:
  E01-0139
Indicated on -VAS 5051-
–  Press briefly on the screen -1- the diagnostic function “02 – Consult fault memory”.
  A01-0122
Indicated on -VAS 5051-

If more than one faults were detected:
–  Print the contents of the screen or the self-diagnosis protocol.
–  Terminate the function “02 – Consult the fault memory” press the button briefly <.
–  Rectify all faults.
–  For selection, the diagnostic function must be pressed again “02 – Consult fault memory” and erase fault memory → Chapter.
–  Press briefly on the diagnostic function selection “06 – End data transmission”.
–  If the fault memory is erased, it will be necessary to generate the readiness code: → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis.
If no faults were recognised:
–  Terminate the function “02 – Consult the fault memory” press the button briefly <.
–  Press briefly on the diagnostic function selection “06 – End data transmission”.
  Note!
t  If no faults are recorded, do not clear fault memory as readiness code would be set to zero.
t  If the fault memory is erased, it will be necessary to generate the readiness code again: → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis.
