General notes on injection |
t
Fuel hoses in engine compartment must be secured only with spring type clips (as supplied by the factory). O-type clips or screw-type clips must not be used.
t
The battery should only be disconnected with the ignition switched off. If the vehicle has a security-coded radio, obtain the correct anti-theft code number before disconnecting the battery, if necessary.
WARNING |
t
The engine control unit is equipped with self-diagnosis.
t
For trouble-free operation of the electrical components a voltage of at least 11.5 V is necessary
t
Do not use sealants containing silicone. Particles of silicone drawn into the engine will not be burnt in the engine and will damage the Lambda probe.
t
If after the fault location, repair or testing of components, the engine only starts for a short time and then stalls, this may be because the immobiliser has blocked the engine control unit. The fault memory must be interrogated and if necessary the control unit matched → Chapter.
t
Certain tests may lead to a fault being detected by the control unit and stored. Thus, the fault memory must be interrogated and erased if necessary after all tests and repairs have been completed → Chapter.
t
Vehicles with an airbag are fitted with a crash/fuel shut-off. This system is designed to reduce the risk of a vehicle fire after a crash by deactivating the fuel pump via the fuel pump relay.
t
When opening the driver's door, the fuel pump is activated for 2 seconds to build-up pressure in the fuel system. By this the starting behaviour is improved.
