Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Spanner -U 40082-, see equivalent → Anchor
  W00-2238
t  Auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Torque wrench 2:25 Nm -SAT 8010/1-, see equivalence → Anchor
t  Voltage tester -VAG 1527B-, see equivalent → Anchor
Test prerequisites
l  Engine cold.
l  Ignition is turned off
Operation process
  Note
Do not tilt the ceramic glow plugs during removal and fitting. Remove the components that may hinder installation.
–  Extract the connections of the glow plugs.
–  Remove all ceramic glow plugs using spanner -U-40082-.
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:
–  Before fitting, clean the hole in the cylinder head and thread so that there are no fragments.
  Note
Do not grease or oil the thread in the cylinder head or on the ceramic glow plugs.
–  Screw the ceramic glow plugs manually with the wrench -U-40082- in the head.
–  Then tighten the ceramic glow plugs with the torque wrench 2:25 nm -SAT 8010/1-. Tightening torque: 15 Nm
  WARNING
t  Following fitting and before starting the engine for the first time, always check the resistance of the ceramic glow plugs.
t  If the faulty glow plug is ruptured, remove the remains of the glow plug otherwise this could result in damage.
t  Specification: 1 Ω max.
–  If the specification is exceeded, replace the faulty ceramic glow plug.
