Test process
   
–  Detach the black triple connector to the engine revs sender -arrow- (on the intake manifold, to the right).
  N24-0839
–  To test the voltage, connect the multimeter to contacts 1 (positive) and 3 (earth) of the engine revs sender connector using the auxiliary leads of the -V.A.G. 1594 A-.
–  Switch on the ignition. Target value: 4.5 V min.
–  Switch off the ignition.
If there is no voltage:
  N28-0131
–  Connect test box -V.A.G. 1598/31- to the wiring harness of the control unit, without connecting the engine control unit.
  N24-0943
–  Test for open circuits in the wiring between the test box and the triple connector, following the wiring diagram. Contact 1+female contact 87 Contact 2+female contact 82 Contact 3+female contact 108 Wire resistance: 1.5 Ω max.
–  Also test the wiring for short circuit between wires. Target value: ∞ Ω
If no faults are found in the wiring and there is voltage between contacts 1+3:
–  Replace the engine revs sender -G28- → Item.
If no faults are found in the wiring and there isn't voltage between contacts 1+3:
–  Replace the engine control unit → Anchor.
