Cylinder head: removal and installation|Installation > < Vehicles with accelerator cable

–  Remove camshaft housing, → Chapter.
–  Remove roller rocker finger together with support elements and place on a clean surface.
–  Ensure the roller rocker fingers and the support elements are not interchangedby mistake.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Loosen hose clips and pull coolant hoses off coolant thermostat housing.
–  Remove oil dipstick tube.
–  Disconnect fuel supply and fuel return pipes at fuel rail.
  Caution
Fuel supply pipes are under pressure! Before removing from hose connection wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection.
–  Loosen or separate the following components:
t  the crankcase breather hose
t  the activated charcoal filter hose which is in the intake opening
t  the vacuum hose from inlet manifold to brake servo
t  the 2 pin connector from knock sensor (rear of cylinder block) and the 4 pin connector from intake manifold pressure sender (front right under intake manifold)
t  the connector from engine speed sender below oil dipstick tube bracket, and pull connector out from retainer
t  the connector from coolant temperature sender, oil pressure switch and exhaust gas recirculation valve
t  injector connectors
–  Remove front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
–  Remove toothed belt guard rear securing bolt (in area of right-hand lifting eye).
   
–  Now the engine must be lifted again slightly with spindle -A-.
  Note!
Both lifting eyes are located on the cylinder head, therefore an additional bracket must be secured to the cylinder block to support the engine.

–  Attach bracket -T10014- to cylinder block using threaded hole in vicinity of coolant pump, in engine block -as illustrated-.
–  Lift engine slightly using second spindle -B- until spindle -A- (Fig. E15-0092) is relieved.
–  Remove spindle -A-.
–  Pull the clamps which secure the coolant pipe to coolant pump from the thermostat housing.

–  Loosen socket head bolts in the sequence given and then remove completely.
–  Carefully lift cylinder head off.
