Test sequence

–	Connect fault reader -V.A.G 1551- (-V.A.G 1552-). Start engine and use address code 01 to select engine control unit. (Connecting fault reader and selecting engine control unit → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.)

Indicated on display:

–	Press keys 0 and 8 for the function “Read measured value block” and confirm entry with Q key.

Indicated on display:

–	Press keys 0, 0 and 3 for “Display group number 3” and confirm entry with Q key.

Read measured value block

Indicated on display: (1...4 = Display fields)

–	Read off the displayed value for engine load in display zone 2 and note this value.

–	Briefly open throttle valve. The engine load value must increase briefly.

If the display shows constantly 0 % or 99 %:

Read measured value block            3 →

Displayed value	Cause	Continue checking
0 %	Open circuit or short to earth	→ Chapter
99 %	Short to positive	→ Chapter
