Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Manual vacuum pump -V.A.G 1390-
Test conditions
l  Depression capsule of the regulation flap, airtight
Checking regulating flap
–  Loosen the upper element of the air filter and remove the cartridge.
   
–  Verify the position of the regulation flap.
   The regulation flap should close the hot air intake -2-.
–  Extract the capsule low pressure tube -1- from the temperature regulator -3- (in the inlet air duct).
–  Connect the low pressure tube of the manual vacuum pump -V.A.G 1390-.
–  Operate the pump and verify the gentle movement of the regulation flap and the operation of the depression capsule.
The regulation flap should close the cold air intake -4-.
Verify the temperature regulator
–  Connect the low pressure tube to the temperature regulator.
–  Start the engine and allow it to run at idle.

–  Verify the position of the regulation flap after 20 seconds maximum.
