Idling check
Idling check
  Note
t  The idle speed cannot be adjusted.
t  CO content regulated by Lambda regulation. Faults in the Lambda control are detected in self-diagnosis and stored in fault memory.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Ignition tester -V.A.G 1767- or -V.A.G 1367- with trigger pincers -V.A.G 1367/8-
Test conditions
l  No faults recorded in the memory → Chapter, Fault memory: consulting.
l  Accelerator control cable adjustment, correct → Rep. Gr.20
l  The exhaust gas system must be airtight.
l  Engine oil temperature, 80 °C minimum.
l  All electrical appliances OFF (the radiator ventilator should not operate during the test).
l  Air conditioning, OFF.
l  Correct ignition timing, verification → Chapter
Checking process
–  Connect the ignition tester -V.A.G 1767- or the ignition tester -V.A.G 1367- with trigger pincers -V.A.G 1367/8-.
–  Start the engine and allow it to run at idle.
–  Check the engine idle speed.
   Specification: 825…1000/min
If the specification is not obtained:
–  Check the throttle actuator → Chapter
