Test conditions

l  Fuse number 18, OK.
l  Battery voltage, 11.5 V minimum
l  Fuel pump relay, OK.
Test process
–  Connect the -V.A.G 1551- (V.A.G. 1552). Start the engine and enter “address code” 01 to select the engine control unit. (Fault reader: Connecting and selecting the engine control unit → Chapter.).
  E01-0119
The display reads:
–  Press 0 and 8 for the function “Read measurement value block” and press Q to confirm the entry.

Rapid data transmission HELP
Select function XX
The display reads:
–  Press 0, 4 and 1 for “Display group number 41” and press Q to confirm the entry.

Read measurement value block HELP
Enter display group number XXX
The display reads: (1...4 = display fields)
The display reads: (1...4 = display fields)
–  Check the state of the post-catalyst lambda probe heating in display field 4: Reading: CfS dCa ON.
  Note!
Lambda probe heating switches on and off depending on engine load state, so the reading in display field 4 can be CfS dCa ON or alternate between CfS dCa ON and CfS dCa OFF.
If the target value is reached:
–  Press .
–  Press 0 and 6 for the function “End data transmission” and press Q to confirm the entry.
–  Switch off the ignition.
If the target value is not reached:

Read measurement value block 41 ->
         1 2 3 4
–  Unplug the 4-pin connector (black) to the post-catalyst lambda probe -G130--arrow-.
Test the voltage supply
  E24-0073
–  To measure the voltage, connect the multimeter at contacts 1+2 (connector to engine control unit) with auxiliary leads -V.A.G 1594 C-.
–  Start the engine and let it idle.
–  Measure the voltage supply and check display group 41, display field 4: Reading CfS dCa ON: Target value: 11.0...14.5 V Reading CfS dCa ON/CfS dCa OFF (alternately): Target value: oscillates between 0.0...12.0 V
–  Press .
–  Press 0 and 6 for the function “End data transmission” and press Q to confirm the entry.
–  Switch off the ignition.
If there is no voltage:
  N24-0722
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/22- to the control unit wiring harness.
  N24-0709
–  Test for open circuits in the wiring between the test box and the 4-pin connector (connector to the control unit) following the wiring diagram. Contact 2+female contact 13 Wiring resistance: 1.5 Ω∼max.
If the target value is reached:
–  Test for open circuits in the wiring between 4-pin connector contact 1 and the fuel pump relay -J17-, following the wiring diagram. Wiring resistance: 1.5 Ω max.
