Faulty injectors produce the following faults:
l  Faulty ignition
l  Knocking in one or more cylinders
l  Engine overheating
l  Reduction in power
l  Excessive black exhaust fumes
l  Increased fuel consumption
l  Blue smoke when starting in the cold
Faulty injectors can be located by loosening the ring nuts on the injector hoses after the other whilst the engine is idling quickly. If the engine speed remains constant after loosening a ring nut, this is a sign that the injector is defective.
