Before carrying out repairs on the Haldex coupling, determine the cause of the fault as accurately as possible by using the „Guided fault finding“, the „Vehicle self-diagnosis“ or the „Measurement module“ of the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 505X-. |
Check the operation of the Haldex clutch II closed |

| Oil level of Haldex coupling (2nd Generation), check and, top up where applicable, Altea XL 2009 ►, Altea XL Freetrack 2008 ►, Altea XL Freetrack 2009 ► → Chapter. |
t
| Correct engine control unit and ABS control unit installed (check coding and control unit identification number). |

| Place the vehicle on a lifting platform. |
Caution For safely reasons, position the vehicle on the lift so the wheels are not touching the ground. |
Carry out test with care to avoid damage. |

| Apply handbrake or parking brake and slowly release clutch. |
The engine should now stall. |
The Haldex coupling is closed; function is OK. |
The Haldex coupling is open. The cause of the fault may be as follows: |

| Main pressure regulating valve sticking |

| Mechanical fault in Haldex clutch. |
t
| The four-wheel drive control unit -J492- in the rear final group is faulty |
Check the operation of the Haldex clutch II open |

the Haldex clutch is open; it is operating correctly. |

| If the rear wheels turn: |
The Haldex coupling is closed. The cause of the fault may be as follows: |
