Lubricate the support points and contact surfaces with polycarbamide grease → Parts catalogue.
The ignition key withdrawal lock is not mechanical, with cable, but electrical.
t  Check functioning of the ignition key withdrawal lock control unit → Chapter.
1 - Selector lever handle
q   Removing and fitting → Chapter
q   With handle locking sleeve, preventing its extraction
2 - Cover for the operation mechanism
q   With selector range and Tiptronic mode
q   Form a whole with the selector lever handle
q   With symbols template and printed circuit board
q   The printed circuit board may be tested in the “Guided fault location” with the central diagnosis -VAS 5051B- or central diagnosis -VAS 5052-
3 - Rubber stop for the selector lever
q   Tightly inserted into the gear selection mechanism
4 - Gear selection mechanism (bracket)
q   Removing and fitting → Chapter
q   With printed circuit board for integrated gear selection mechanism, do not touch
q   With integrated Tiptronic switch -F189- and selection lever locking magnet -N110-; these may be checked using the “Fault location guide” with the central diagnosis -VAS 5051B- or central diagnosis -VAS 5052-
q   The Tiptronic switch -F189- may only be replaced with a new gear selection mechanism → Chapter
q   The Selection lever locking magnet -N110- can only be replaced by a new gear operation mechanism → Chapter
5 - Insertion spring
6 - Bolt: 3,5 Nm
7 - Insertion plate
8 - Bolt: 3,5 Nm
q   4 units
q   To attach the insertion plate to the gear selection mechanism
9 - Bush bolts
q   To attach the selector lever cable to the gear selection mechanism
10 - Safety plate
q   For selector lever cable to bracket
q   Always replace
11 - Cover
q   For the gear selection mechanism.
q   With gasket attached
12 - Self locking nut: 9 Nm
q   To attach the cover to the gear selection mechanism
q   4 units
q   Always replace
13 - Selector lever cable
q   Do not bend or twist
q   Replace the gear selection cable if the protective sheath is damaged
q   Checking and adjusting → Chapter
q   Removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Do not grease the shaft ring or ball socket
14 - Nut, 13 Nm
q   To fix the bracket → Item to the gearbox
q   2 units
15 - Support
q   For the selector lever cable
16 - Bolt 23 Nm
q   To fix the counter support to the gearbox
q   2 units
17 - Counter support
q   For the selector lever cable in the gearbox
18 - Nut, 10 Nm
q   4 units
q   For the gear selection mechanism attached to the bodywork
