General notes
Two versions of the telephone system are possible. Either as a complete telephone system or only the preparation for retrofitting a telephone.
It is possible to retrofit mobile telephones if the vehicle has a telephone preparation. To be able to operate telephones in SEAT vehicles they require their own operating electronics, a so-called interface box. This makes the connection between the mobile phone and the components installed in the vehicle via a standard VDA connector. The SEAT standard telephone is connected via a special interface box to this VDA connector. Inquiries must be made to the individual telephone manufacturers to establish which interface box is required for their telephones. Interface boxes which do not have a VDA connector require the appropriate adapter (e.g. from Votex).
For 2001 Alhambra vehicles ► the interface box is also already installed at the factory when the “telephone preparation” option is ordered. All that is still required is an adapter cable for the connection from the mobile telephone to be used to the VDA connector of the interface box.
