Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrenches -SAT 8010-
  Note
t  Before disconnecting the battery check anti-theft coding on radios that have this feature.
t  When the battery is reconnected, check the vehicle equipment (radio, clock, power windows, etc.), according to the repair guidelines and/or the operating instructions.
Before carrying out removal or installation work:
–  Check the state of the comfort system's fuses: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
–  See the comfort system fault memory: → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis
Removing
–  Switch ignition OFF.
–  Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
–  Remove the windscreen wiper arms.
–  Remove the cowl panel trim.
LHD vehicles
  W00-2760
–  Unscrew hexagon nut -1-.
RHD vehicles
  E96-0079
–  Unscrew hexagon nut -1-.
All vehicles (continued):
  E96-0080
–  Remove the smart alarm horn and remove from the radiator tank. Turn the alarm horn and guide the threaded bolt through the recess on the structure -2-.

–  Separate the supply connector -arrow-.
Fitting .
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:
–  Fit the cowl panel and the windscreen arms.
–  Adjust the resting position of the wiper blades.
–  Consult the comfort system fault memory again: → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis
