Checking the vehicle level sendersG78 / G76
Checking the vehicle level senders -G78 / G76-
The vehicle level sender send the inclination of the vehicle in the form of a signal to the headlamp range adjustment control unit -J431-.
Next check whether the left rear vehicle level sender -G76- and the left front vehicle level sender -G78- of the headlamp range adjustment control unit -J431- send usable signals.
In the headlamp range adjustment control unit -J431- no event is registered in the following cases:
t  with installed vehicle level senders that have not been specified in the Workshop Manual.
t  with mechanically damaged vehicle level senders
t  with vehicles where the modifications have been made to the axle geometry (e.g. vehicles with lowered suspension)
  Note
If the values of the vehicle level senders are outside the margin of tolerance , the basic headlamp adjustment can not be carried out.

–  Connecting the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 505X-
–  Select the mode of operation vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 505X- in the „Guided Fault Finding“.
–  Select the entry „Component and function selection“ using the button „go to“ and then the successive menu points:
t  Body
t  Electrical system
t  01 - Self-diagnosis-compatible systems
t  Vehicles with automatic headlight range adjustment
t  Automatic regulation of headlight range control
t  Vehicle level sender: checking
