Removal: –  Switch off ignition and remove key. –  Turn light switch to „0“ position.

Left headlamp - 1.6 litre 2-valve engine –  Disconnect hoses -1- and -2- from air cleaner housing. –  Unscrew the bolt -3-. –  Take out air cleaner housing.

Left headlamp - 2.0 litre FSI engine: –  Remove connector -4- for intake air temperature sender -G42- in air filter housing. –  Disconnect hoses -1- and -2- from air cleaner housing. –  Unscrew the bolt -3-. –  Take out air cleaner housing.

Left headlamp - 2.0 litre TDI engine: –  Unplug connector -2- at air-mass meter -G70-. –  Detach vent hose -1- and air ducts -3- and -5-. –  Screw out bolt -4- and detach air cleaner housing.

Right headlamp - vehicles with petrol engine: –  Remove activated charcoal canister system from support with the pipes connected, upwards -arrow- and leave to one side.

Right headlamp - vehicles with TDI engine: –  Lift fuel filter out of retainer -arrow- and place it aside (the hoses remain connected).

Both sides (continued):

–  Pull on the rubber tab -arrows- and detach housing cover for main beam/parking light from headlight housing. –  Detach electrical connector -1- of main beam bulb. –  Disengage spring clip -arrow- –  Remove the light bulb -2- from its bracket.
