t
| Hand-held multimeter -V.A.G. 1526- or -V.A.G. 1526 A- |
Note! t
| To test the voltage in open circuit of a battery fitted on a vehicle, it is essential to disconnect the earth strap. |
t
| The vehicle must neither be driven nor started up with the battery to be tested for at least 2 hours before the test. |
t
| For at least 2 hours before the test, the battery must not be loaded with consumers on. |
t
| The battery must not be subject to load for at least 2 hours before the test. |
To test the voltage of the battery without load, proceed as follows: |
–
| With the battery fitted and the ignition off, test the voltage with the tester between the terminals. |
If the tester indicates 12.5 volts or more, the battery is OK. |
The voltage in open circuit of the battery must never exceed the value of 12.5 V (volts); if this should occur, disconnect the battery immediately → Chapter. |
