Alternator: repairs > < Starter motor: Removing and installing, automatic gearbox

  Note
   
In vehicles with engine code BKY with automatic gearbox, the starter motor is fixed to the rear side of the engine using three screws.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
  N27-10217
t  Torque wrenches -SAT 8010-
Removing:
–  Disconnect battery → Chapter.
  W00-2760
–  Release and disconnect connection -3- of terminal 50.
–  Remove star head screw -2-.
–  Unscrew the rear securing bolt and remove connector -1- from magnetic switch on terminal 30.

–  Unscrew hexagon nut -5-.
–  Remove the earth cable -7-and remove the bolt on the back of the starter motor -6-.
–  Screw out top starter securing bolt -8-.

–  Unscrew the third securing screw behind the starter motor (T-bolt, 13 mm) -3-.
  Note
To be able to access the securing screw behind the starter motor (T-bolt) -3-, hang out the cable duct -1- from the strut of the starter motor -2-, from the T-bolt -3- and from the transport eyes of the gearbox -4- and place to one side.
–  Remove the starter motor from the vehicle by pulling upwards.
Fitting:
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:
  N27-10234
–  Make sure that the cable duct -1- is closed and fixed in the correct transport eye of the gearbox -4-, in the rear securing screws of the starter motor (T-bolt) -3- and in the strut of the starter motor -2-.
–  Tighten the fastening bolts or nuts to the torques shown → Chapter .
–  Connect battery → Chapter.
